Los Angeles Children’s Photographer | This One, She’s My Girl…

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Getting into the spirit of “Back To School” I wanted to do a photo shoot with my oldest daughter to capture the last little bit of summer we have left for this year before she heads back to school.  This blog post is for her, celebrating her because I love her!

To my sweet, sweet girl.  You are my first born, my first girl and as you fall to sleep each night I think about how you are growing up way too fast.  Last year at this time I was nervously anticipating a day that had made my stomach churn for weeks.  You were heading to kindergarten and even though you seemed prepared for the big day, I wasn’t.  We dropped you off there for your first day of school and I can still recall the smile on your face and excitement in your eyes.  When your teacher had your class line up in the play yard for the morning prayer we watched you grow leaps and bounds in that very moment right there before our eyes.

I will never forget that last look you gave me before you headed in to your class room.  You looked back nervously at me and took a big gulp, gave me a tiny smile and then followed in line behind your classmates.  You were too far away to see the tears streaming behind my sunglasses, but that morning has left a lasting imprint on my heart.

A short 9 months later and you, my girl, were graduating from kindergarten.  You were still my same sweet “little” but you had also become such a grown girl in less than a year.  Attending your kindergarten graduation was another moment that made me realize how quickly the year has gone by and how fast you are growing up.  We were so proud of you that day watching you receive your diploma in the same church, from the same school, wearing the same paper cap that your father had worn when he graduated from that same kindergarten.  We are so proud of you and the person you are – you are truly a gift to our lives.  Your smile is infectious, your thoughtfulness is endless and your playful spirit and belly laughs always leave us with a smile.

Summer is ending and the time has come, we are back to the same place just one year later.  In a couple of days we will be walking you in to your first day of school and this time it will be first grade.  No matter how old you are or what grade you are in, my parting words to you will always be the same.   The words I said to you on your first day of kindergarten and every morning when I dropped you off are the same words I want you to carry with you every day through your life…”Be a good friend and be a good listener, I love you…”

I love these photos of you Fin, they truly capture you and who you are at this very moment.  Spending the time with you at the beach for your photo shoot was so much fun and I thank you so much for these perfect images.  I loved shooting your session and I love every moment we spent playing in the surf.  Most importantly, I love you – my sweet, sweet buggy! xoxo

Los Angeles Newborn Photographer | Sneak Peek of Little Man Isiah

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

I have known Isiah’s mom for quite some time, so when I knew she was pregnant I told her she definitely needed to schedule her maternity and newborn sessions with me.  The maternity session was perfect and it was nice getting to meet my girlfriend’s husband.  When it came time for the baby, I was so excited to meet him.  He is such a sweet little guy and he loved the warmth of the studio where he could just stretch out naked and enjoy being comfy.  The last images are with Isiah and his parents and I just love these images the most.  There were some amazing images of the three of them together but as a way of keeping some of the images a surprise, I am leaving those just for the parents to view!  Thank you so, so, much Isiah for spending some time with me.  I can’t wait to watch you grow up!!! xoxo

Los Angeles-South Bay Family Photographer | Rappole Family Sneak Peek

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

I gave you a small teaser a little bit back from my session with the Rappole Family.  For those that don’t remember, that was the session where we got into a little bit of trouble with the waves.  Glad to say we all survived, but I am not so sure everyone’s shoes lasted!!!  I love the fact that everyone in their family was here together staying by the beach having a family vacation.  Clint was celebrating his 70th birthday and it was so nice to be able to capture these memories for them.  The kids were all so cute and this whole group was a lot of fun to hang out with.  Clint and Leigh had flown in from Texas for the vacation and that made me happy knowing I had a little piece of home there with me at the session even though I had just met them.  Come one come all Rappole family – come check out your sneak peek!!!  Enjoy….

Houston Family Photographer |Texas Holiday Shoot-Out, Your Holiday Photos

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

I am excited to announce the details of my trip to Houston, October 9th & 10th, for my weekend of shooting holiday photos.  I was born and raised in Houston and any chance I get to go back and visit is always so much fun!  I have many friends and family members in the Houston area that have been HUGE supporters of my photography business and I always knew I wanted to plan a weekend to go back home and do some shooting there.  It may seem too early to even think about the holidays, but NOW really is the time to start planning.  The two days of shooting will take place at the beautifully wooded Houston Arboretum & Nature Center.  We will be offering 1/2 hour mini sessions from 9am-4pm.  All sessions may include up to 5 people, there is a fee of $15 per each additional person.  If you are a member of the Houston Arboretum you will receive a 5% discount when booking your session.  There are a limited number of sessions available, don’t wait to sign up because you won’t want to miss out on this fun event!!!  Click here to book your session!!!

We are offering 3 packages and all sessions must be paid in full at the time of booking.  Approximately 10-14 days from your session date you will be notified of your sneak peek that will be up here on my blog.  On or before November 7th, 2010, we will email you with the details on how to view your images from your session in a private online image gallery.   Each Gallery will include up to 15 fully edited images for you to choose from.  Once you are notified that your online image gallery is up for your viewing, you will have one week to place your order for your prints, holiday cards and digital images.  All prints, holiday cards and digital image orders will be shipped to your address provided and you should expect to receive them on or before December 5th, 2010.  For packages including holiday cards, you will also be given access to an online gallery where you can choose from a wide variety of flat two sided cards.  All cards are press printed with a standard semi-gloss finish and are custom designed for your order.  Should you wish to purchase additional prints, holiday cards, digital images or other specialty items, please see the A La Carte Pricing List on our website for pricing information at www.julierollinsphotography.com.  Any specialty items purchased such as canvases, image boxes and albums etc.. typically arrive 4-6 weeks after the order has been placed.  These items will incur additional charges for shipping.

On a personal note, Julie Rollins Photography will personally donate 10% of your package fee to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Tyson Mailloux, an 11yr old who is currently battling leukemia.  I have never met Tyson, but I do know his dad from high school.  I came across Tyson’s story via Facebook.  If you have ever heard of someone talking about the power of Facebook, believe it.  Tyson’s dad Jaisson is a friend of mine on Facebook and early last month I saw a post where he mentioned his 11yr old son had just been diagnosed with Leukemia.  My initial reactions were shock and sadness.  From that point on I kept checking Jaisson’s page on a regular basis to get the updates of his sweet boy and their fight against Leukemia.  Every time I would read an update on Tyson I was always wondering what I could do to help their family and to raise awareness of what Tyson is going through.  Once I made my decision to make this trip to Houston I instantly knew that I wanted to donate a portion of the session fees to a charitable organization in honor of Tyson and others that are currently fighting the battle against Leukemia.  There are two sites you can visit that document Tyson’s war against Leukemia.  The first site, St. Baldricks Foundation, was created by Tyson’s dad and has many photos documenting their journey.  The second site, CaringBridge.org, is Tyson’s own personal journal of what he is going through.  To everyone who will be booking a session, I thank you so much for being apart of this donation.  Your support means so much to Tyson and his family during their fight.

Don’t wait to book your session, sign up now!  Direct your friends and family in the Houston area here so they can sign up too!

Los Angeles Family Photographer | Beach Session Teaser

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Check out this gorgeous family!!!  We met up with everyone on Sunday down by the beach so that we could have a giant family photo session.  This group was great, everyone was so nice and it was fun getting to meet everyone.  When we started out the session we headed down to the waterline so we could get some shots under the pier.  We were trying to keep an eye on the waves as they would come in and out, but unfortunately in the second photo that wave snuck up on us big time!!!  I will be posting more from this session real soon, but until then, to everyone in the Rappole Family – here is your teaser!!!

Los Angeles Newborn Photographer | Sweet Sweet Madison

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

This month has been off the charts busy with all sorts of fun photo sessions and there are still a bunch more to come before the month ends!!!  I moved my studio at the end of last month into a bigger place and I am LOVING shooting in this new space!  I find it perfectly equipped for all of the newborns that have been coming my way and I am having a blast shooting all of the sessions!!!  Yesterday Mia and Madison drove down from Hollywood to come spend some time with me for a newborn photo session so Mia could get photos of Madison.  Typically my newborn sessions are for babies that are under two weeks of age and the ideal time frame I prefer to shoot is when the baby is between 5-9 days old.  Madison was actually celebrating her 6 week birthday so I was wondering if we were going to be able to get those sleepy newborn shots that everyone loves.  Once everyone got settled in and we cranked the heat up to get Madison comfy she soon fell off into dreamland.  This baby is just outright beautiful!!!  She is perfect from head to toe and it was a great session!  This is the teaser from Madison’s session and soon you will be seeing a lot more great shots from our date!!!  Thank you so much Mia for bringing her down, we had a great time!!!!  I also want to thank Monica, Mia’s sister for coming along and being there to also help out whenever we needed her.  My last shout out goes to my awesome friend and best shoot assistant I could ever ask for, Debora.  She assists me on about 90% of my sessions and I am grateful to have such a great right hand man to help make everything run so smooth!!! Love ya Deb!
